What is LOVE?

Burning Man:

One of the most powerful art pieces from Burning Man:

A sculpture of two adults after a disagreement, sitting with their backs to each other. Yet, the inner child in both of them simply wants to connect.

Age has many beautiful gifts but one we could live without is the pride and resentment we hold onto when we have conflicts with each others.

But where does this pride and resentment, (lack of LOVE) come from?

IS IT BECAUSE WE DON’T UNDERSTAND “LOVE”?

 Modern day Love:

Sadly in our sophisticated language, we have only one word “LOVE” to describe a number of different connections and feelings, and all of these are labelled as “LOVE”.

How can “I LOVE YOU” said to that special person and “I LOVE CHOCOLATE” mean the same thing?

So we research this and establish that maybe, we might not be so “sophisticated” after all.

6 Forms of LOVE identified by Ancient Greeks:

We find that the Ancient Greeks had 6 different words for LOVE with each word representing a different form or type of love:

Recognizing, understanding and identifying these different types of love in our every day lives will surely improve relationships and limit confusion. We also need to accept that as human beings, we surely require all six “forms” of LOVE to fulfill us but cannot expect to find them all in one person.

Your partner can simply not love you like your parent does who can also not love you like you love your child. They are all different !!

With the ever increasing rate of “break ups” now evident, surely we must concede that the word LOVE needs to be expanded and understood differently to what its current standing in society represents.

Those “old guys” would never understand our “modern life” technical advancements, but they sure as nuts could teach us a thing or two about LOVE.

Maybe we need to become like the inner child and learn what “LOVE” really is.
